From Herreid to Larsen's: US-83 South, Then US-12 West
US-83 does not reach Mobridge. Head south on US-83 to Selby, where it meets US-12, then west on US-12 through Glenham into Mobridge. Google Maps timed it at 40 minutes on 9 October 2026; allow 40 to 45. Stay south on US-83 past Selby and you are heading toward Pierre instead.
The other way is west to SD-1804 and south along Lake Oahe: about 42 miles and 50 minutes, slower but on the lake side. Either way you stay east of the Missouri; there is no river crossing between Herreid and Larsen's.
The last two blocks: on US-12 you come in from the east on Grand Crossing Avenue, so turn left (south) on Main Street at the stoplight; Larsen's is two blocks down on the west side. In winter, check SD511 first: the US-83 corridor between Herreid and Selby drifts fast in a ground blizzard.
