From Fort Yates to Larsen's: Two Ways South
The quickest way is south on Highway 1806 along the west side of Lake Oahe, past Kenel and Wakpala, to US-12, then east over the Missouri River bridge into Mobridge. Google Maps had it at 49.9 miles and 55 minutes on 9 October 2026.
The other way is ND-24 west to ND-6, south across the state line on SD-63 to McLaughlin, then US-12 east: 57 miles and about an hour. McLaughlin is on Mountain time, but Fort Yates and Mobridge are both on Central, so the clock is the same at both ends.
The last two blocks: both routes finish on the US-12 bridge. Over the river, US-12 becomes Grand Crossing Avenue; turn right (south) on Main Street at the stoplight, and Larsen's is two blocks down on the west side, with curb parking at the door.
That is a state line crossing, and North Dakota and South Dakota report road conditions separately, so check both in winter before you set out.

Is Anywhere Closer Than Mobridge?
